Created and taught by Indigenous leaders, the Family Matters workshop helps to strengthen families. It's designed for parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles - anyone over 16 who would like to see growth in their family.

Your weekend will include the workshop, workbooks, and coffee breaks, and then end with a celebration as we honour three couples from Mistissini for all their work offering help and hope to strengthen marriages and families in the Cree Nations.
At the workshop, you’ll learn how to create an environment in your home where everyone:
Feels safe
Knows they are loved no matter what
Realizes they are called and capable
Knows they are responsible

Gord and Bev Mills reside in Sudbury, Ontario. They celebrated 40 years of marriage on July 3, 2022 and are the proud parents of two children and three fabulous grandchildren. Gord is originally from Moose Factory, Ontario, and is a member of the Moose Cree First Nation and has been a Christian since 1978. He has always been involved in many communities and churches. Bev joined Gord in retirement in March 2022 and their lives have been filled with family activities, travel, and speaking at various churches and conferences in Canada and abroad.
Lance and Gloria Cooper live in Oujé-Bougoumou and have been married for over 15 years. Their love story of how two people can overcome adversity and become one is an interesting tale. They hope that their love and dedication to one another is a beacon of hope for many. Together with their three sons, Landon, Ryan and Nikamoon, they enjoy doing many family activities together and making meaningful memories. As they provide leadership in their community, Gloria and Lance rely on each other to carry each other through.
