The Weekend Getaway is a marriage conference uniquely designed to enrich your relationship. For most couples it’s a chance to reconnect, re-establish the foundation and rekindle romance. For others, it’s a fresh start. For some, it will be the weekend that saves a marriage.
Wherever you’re at in your relationship, this retreat is a weekend to remember. The atmosphere is relaxed and warm, even fun. You’ll hear from real couples doing real life together… God’s way. You’ll be given time to process what you’re learning, just between the two of you (there’s no group sharing expected). And together, you’ll make a plan for a marriage that lasts a lifetime. Dave and Rushia first met on a college campus in Kelowna, BC. During a bus ride Dave knew Rushia was the girl he was going to marry and Rushia knew Dave was the guy she should stay away from. Three years later they were married. Over their 34 years together, they’ve been teachers in Northern Saskatchewan, travelled to 25 countries, parented 5 athletic children, and welcomed in-laws and a granddaughter into the family. Dave leads Athletes in Action nationally and Rushia is the Women’s Pastor for Central Heights church in Abbotsford, BC.
Sheldon and Valerie met in 1997 while working at summer camp and have been together ever since. Though they’ve had many ups and downs, including teen pregnancy and almost separating 13 years into their marriage, they would tell you they are more in love now than ever. They married in 2001, have three young adult children and love canoeing the Saskatchewan rivers and rapids together. They work with FamilyLife Canada and have a passion to see healthy, thriving marriages across the country and love sharing the difference Jesus can make in our lives. Together they host a podcast called Marriage Talk.
Nancy Collette and Benoit Laprade are teaching the optional French only session.
